The last year and a half has surfaced some unique needs of our students while it has amplified student needs we knew existed. AUSD has received additional one time funding to assist with the support of students. Please share your suggestions on how we should use these additional funds to meet the current needs of our students.

Elementary & Secondary School Relief (ESSER II)
AUSD will receive $13,622,026
Funds may be expended during the period of March 1, 2020 through September 30, 2023
ESSER II – ALLOWABLE USES
Activity authorized by ESEA and IDEA
Prepare and Response to COVID-19
Resources necessary to address school needs
Activities to address the unique needs of low-income or students with disabilities, EL, racial and ethnic minorities, students experiencing homelessness and foster youth
Professional development
Technology
Mental health services and supports
Summer learning and supplemental afterschool programs
Addressing learning loss
School facility repairs and improvement, including cleaning and disinfecting
Other activities that are necessary to maintain operations and continuity of services and continuing to employ existing staff
FEDERAL STIMULUS FUNDING
ESSER II funds have not been allocated or used to date.
Tentative ideas include:
Continue intervention teachers for the 2022/23 school year to support small learning groups for students
Continue class size reduction at the secondary level for the 2022/23 school year
Continue computer tech support for the 2022/23 school year to support the increased number of technology devices
ESSER III
AUSD will receive $30,315,835
Funds may be expended during the period of March 1, 2020 through September 30, 2024

Develop strategies and implementing public health protocols
Activities reducing virus transmission and other health hazards
Activities improving air quality
Activities addressing learning loss
Activities related to family engagement Mental health supports
Any activity allowed under the original CARES Act
